Registration
Demand for mental healthcare services in the Netherlands is high, which is why Praktijk Lastage strives to match your care request to the care we offer: less care where that is possible, more care where it is needed. This is medical specialist treatment, which may involve medication, psychotherapy or a combination of the two.
From registration to treatment
Preparation
Referral letter
To register for our services, you will need a referral letter from your general practitioner or medical specialist. Please note that we cannot accept registrations without a referral letter.
Health insurance
Praktijk Lastage does not have contracts with health insurers. You receive the invoice yourself and submit it to your insurer. How much you get back depends on your policy; check this before treatment begins. Our rates and general information about reimbursement are on the Rates page.
Registration
Waiting time
At Praktijk Lastage, requests for care related to pregnancy and the menopause are given priority over other kinds of problem. Even so, there may be times when the practice is full. To ask about current availability, please send a message using our contact form.
Intake
If, upon contacting us through the contact form on our website, it is determined that your care needs align with the services we offer, you will be provided with a registration form to complete prior to your initial in-person consultation.
In treatment
Diagnostic consult
The initial consultations at Praktijk Lastage serve as diagnostic sessions, during which your care needs are thoroughly assessed. This may include laboratory tests. In collaboration with you, an appropriate treatment plan will be determined or other follow-up actions, such as referrals, will be considered based on the findings.
Treatment contract
If you enter treatment, a treatment contract and care plan will be collaboratively developed, outlining essential information about care needs, diagnosis, treatment objectives, contact details of individuals directly involved, and any preferences to be indicated (e.g. privacy). Both the patient and the practitioner will sign this agreement.
Treatment consult
You will have treatment consultations at regular intervals. Ideally, these sessions take place in-person; however, video consultations can be arranged when necessary.
Conclusion
Evaluation and end of treatment
The decision to conclude or continue treatment will be regularly assessed in collaboration with you. The treatment contract is adjusted where necessary. Alternative treatment options and potential follow-up steps will also be explored where these seem useful to you. Upon the conclusion of treatment, the referring party will be informed of the outcome.
Locum cover during treatment
Illness — If the psychiatrist is briefly unwell, you will be notified by e-mail or SMS that your appointment is cancelled. Should the illness last longer, a replacement will be sought in consultation with you.
Holidays — Any period of absence is announced to you at least 2 weeks in advance. Treatment is paused while the psychiatrist is away. Should a question arise that cannot wait, you can turn to a locum.
